Seni Saraki Joins List of Winners at 67th Grammy Awards

Do you remember Street Credibility by 9ice back in 08 where 9ice anticipated his desire for a Grammy and admonished his fans not to doubt? Although he hasn't brought us one himself, we can't ignore the fact that people like him and others paved the way for those winning it today. As Nigeria's popularity grows steadily at the Grammy's, other creatives are getting recognised too and one of those is the son of a used-to-be Nigerian Senate President, Bukola Saraki, Seni Saraki.

Seni Saraki won his first Grammy for his role and creative ingenuity in the production of the improvement or reimaging of Bob Marley's One Love song, a 17-track (soundtrack) album project featuring fresh interpretations of the legendary reggae artiste's songs and dedicated to honouring him. The project won the Grammy for Best Reggae Album over strong competitors, including Collie Buddz’s Take It Easy, Vybz Kartel’s Party With Me, Shenseea’s Never Gets Late Here, and The Wailers’ Evolution thereby marking a significant milestone in Seni’s career.

While reacting to the win, Seni expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to contribute to such a landmark project which was inspired by his role and contribution in the creation of the Wakanda soundtrack project in 2023. He said his role was to help bring a few artistes together and he was glad they all did incredibly well. He thanked every0ne who worked on the project (which was the second he would be working on and was released in February 2024 through Bob Marley’s Tuff Gong and Island Records) including the engineers and other back room people.

Seni Saraki is a graduate of the London School of Economics. He co-founded The NATIVE in 2016, a platform dedicated to showcasing African youth culture and his influence in the creative industry extends beyond journalism and content curation.
