You Dey Mad?
Otubo's heart had just been broken. As the bus sailed unpertubed along the boulevard, his mind dwelt on the note Oshim had left behind. 'I can't do this anymore Otu, I just need to move on'. He twisted a little with thoughts that only hearts that love genuinely get broken. He had an appointment to catch and he needed to focus on what he was taking to the table. Sickly, he whispered to the bus conductor that his destination was two bus stops away before he got lost in his pains again.
Ppppiiiinnnn... ppppiiiinnn... the bus swerved then screeched to a sudden stop. The driver brought out his head in annoyance and let out a quick curse on the pedestrian who got in his way. 'Weré, you for stay mek I brek ya mama leg'. Otubo got jerked back to the present only to discover that the driver had sped past his bus stop. He was one hundred percent mad! And unconsciously was in a state of fight or fight.
'Driver, se na my bus stop be diz?'
'You dey sleep wen i pass am?' the
driver retorted.
Otubo moved close and jabbed him on the lower jaw from behind. The driver ran mad too! While he struggled with the seat belt to return the favour Otubo had granted, other passengers pleaded with him to let go but he wouldn't. In a twinkle, he unstrapped, alighted hastily and rushed towards Otubo whose fists were only waiting for another trigger.
Suddenly, the driver stood still, looked into Otubo's eyes and saw what no one else saw. 'You dey mad?' he muttered for he was a child of discretion.
