'I can't kiss a guy that's not hot on set', Tiwa Savage
Following Tiwa Savage's foray into acting in her debut movie 'Water and Garri', we see how much it has pushed her to sample new sounds that are usually not typical of her style.
In her interview with CNN African Voices anchored by Larry Madowo, she explained the connection between the movie and the EP she released in 2021 stating that the movie was supposed to be about the songs on the EP but it kind of grew on its own and took on a new identity and she ended up creating a completely different tune and soundtrack for it.
Though 'Water and Garri' is a movie that tries to xray our everyday struggles from different angles like love, fear, grief, loss, gangsterism and the futility of life, it is laced by one too many flaws like many in different quarters have claimed. Some say it lacks coherence. Some say the acting and directing was poor, while others spotted lack of chemistry between the two romantic characters.
That notwithstanding, some have boldly asserted that they were 'invested' in the story, had their share of laughs, shed a tear or two and even felt the intensity of the suspense in the storyline. You see, different strokes for different folks. Bottom line is, do what you have to do and let the world say!
