Uzor Arukwe: The Rave of the Moment

 

Since the release of  Omoni Oboli's ''Love in Every Word'', Uzor Arukwe has become the rave of the moment. Truth is everyone has their time but when it will be is what we never know. The first time I came across Uzor as a promising actor was when he killed his pretentious pastor role in ''She Is'' and then ''Size 12'' a Mary Lazarus film where he had to manage to infuse a bit of Yoruba lingo to portray a typical Yoruba guy.  

Uzor Arukwe's journey into acting started when his corporate life started in 2012 after his employers, Etisalat, folded up. As is usually the custom with people who desire to explore different career paths when they suffer such fate, Uzor Arukwe's decision taught him patience and perseverance as he learns the ins and outs of the industry. Soon, he started getting minor roles that earned him as little as 2k or 5k depending on the producer of the project per time. Along the line, his talent became recognised and he climbed up the ladder gradually, landing and lead and supporting roles in a number of movies like ''Sergeant Tutu'', ''Code Wilo'', ''Yours Regardless'', etc.

Although many know that Uzor is a fantastic actor of Igbo decent, from Imo state precisely, but many don't know that the graduate of economics from Abia State University, has been married for about ten good years to his heartrob, Barbara Boyd-Arukwe, an HR personnel in a gym centre and the marriage has produced two beautiful girls. Another interesting fact is that Uzor does not enjoy kissing on set. Well, a part of you might think that's strange bt it is what it is for a handful in the industry that is known for such and even more.

So far, his talent has earned him more recognition and two nominations for Best Actor in Comedy or Movie in the 2020 African Magic Viewers' Choice Awards (AMCVA) and Best Actor in the 2021 Best of Nollywood Awards for his role in ''Yous Regardless''and  AMCVA's 2025 edition for Best Supporting Actor in ''Suspicion''. For this year, the tide might flow in his favour considering how more endeared he has been to the majority that can't stop yapping about his comic role in ''Love in Every Word'', the most talked about movie lately.
